Oops It Did It Again

Seriously? Seriously! Doesn't anyone up There know I'm a transplant from the Deeeeeeppppp South, as in Tropical South???? Why does this keep happening???
I was hoping the Fleur De Lis Christmas Tree would suffice as a bloody X on my door for the Holy Spirit of Snow to pass over my house. I guess you really can't mix Jewish and Christian theology?
Didn't work...
If you notice when this picture was taken the snow is still falling!
And this is why I don't drive when it snows. It probably is one of the last streets to ever see a snow plow if it comes at all! But word spread like wildfire in the animal kingdom in my house...
Psst, Holden tell all the others! It's snowing! Tell them to bark like crazy so we get to go out!
Yeah, Laura! She's got a soft heart! That's the way to do it!
What are you looking at? I did what Beignet asked...I spread the word. I pity the fool that goes out in that stuff!

Hey...anyone seen Holden out here?

Mmmm-mmm...downtime! Alone at last!

I do suggest if it is going to snow where you live, I mean this kind of a 'whole lotta snow', you invite as many of your strong young grown sons over for a visit you possibly can...
They really make a difference! Thank you my boys!

But before all the white S*#W fell we did have a lovely family Christmas.

Coming soon...

Visions of Sugarplums

There is nothing like watching loved ones open presents on Christmas. When you see the joy on their faces for what they've received it truly reminds me it is better to give than receive!
May all your Visions of Sugarplums come matter your age!
 Happy Christmas Eve!

In Case You Didn't See Enough Red Dresses yes, I found more of those suckers!
And don't let the date fool you. They were worn on Christmas. Knowing Mom, we wore them for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Probably didn't develop the picture until the next year! Bwaahahahaha!
Christmas is coming!

The Giraffe

This giraffe has seen a lot of rock and roll action through the years. It is sort of our family's version of The Velveteen Rabbit. It's been loved and rocked now for two generations. When Santa brought it to our house I was able to share a ride with my oldest son.

I don't think the old giraffe and the old girl will be riding together this year! But I suspect Lily and the old giraffe will be riding the range!
Christmas is coming...

Remember To Say Thank You...Anyway You Want Is Just Fine

I found this picture from a Christmas many years ago. It melted my heart, Tim's sweet kiss of thanks to Elise for his present and Elise's and his brothers enjoyment of the moment!
I love Christmas! I love my kids, then and now!

Christmas is coming....

Anniversary Prose For Steve

'Twas the week before Christmas December '71
The limo was waiting...bells to be rung
I knew in my heart I'd found the man of my dreams
Oh how excited, how young...we both seem!
My Dad asked, 'Are You Sure?'
'Of course' I replied, 'No worries, no fuss'!
As we traversed down St Charles
To the Church where You was...
I walked down that long aisle, my eyes only for you!
Was ready to reply, 'Oh yes, Father, I do'...
A vow was taken,
We'd only begun.
It's thirty nine years
Since we shared our white cake
So what do you think-
Hasn't it all been just great?
I love you my darling
You bring me such Joy
My husband, kids' Father
Romantic, and loving, still my fav-o-rite boy!

A Long Time Ago...In New Orleans

Family and friends, wouldn't you say they bring joy to Christmas?  Always as close as a always.

My Paw Paw and Grams:
Grams and 'Aunt Juanita'
Aunt 'Weenie', Grams, Gramma Bet...
'Uncle Perry', 'Aunt Sara', Monica, Mrs K, Daddy, Bet...
Lynn McC, Myron K, Jimmy K and Sally, Emmet and Donna, Billy,
The Gaudry Boys and the Doerrs and us...
If only I had a Christmas picture of Uncle Billy J...and Aunt Hazel both asleep at the table it would be a real montage of the Holidays Past!

Passing the Santa Torch(ering)

I did say look out for future generations of Santa pictures. Here are two I had on hand and could quickly scan. I'm sure I have more...but I'll save those for another Christmas. Maybe by then I'll have my pictures in order. BWAH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

Tim looks like he's in shock! Steve looks like he's looking off in the distance at me like 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING'?
And then there were three...
Scott always did know what side of the bread his butter was on! If that guy in the red suit means gifts, sure, I'll smile! Lily....look Daddy is saying, "CHEEESEEEEE"!

Oh ChristmasTree...Oh Christmas Tree...

Oh sometimes the Christmas tree can be found as soon as you disembark from the car. Sometimes you can travel 24 miles across a causeway to the other side of Lake Pontchatrain and NEVER find it! That's Scott on the 'cut your own' lot 24 miles across the lake from our house in New Orleans! Never found a tree all four boys could agree on...
If you are like my Mom was, someone who waited until Christmas Eve so the prices are low,  you get what you pay for. A tree without a peak! Eventually she would go earlier...say the week before Christmas. The tree still seems fairly peekless, but not as exaggerated.  It must have been a political statement!
Our very first Christmas together Steve and I  had been married a week and didn't have a tree. That Christmas Eve, at the family party, my brother-in-law learned we didn't have a tree. He insisted we needed one. With a tad too much Christmas cheer in all of us we very nearly got arrested in our quest and finally convinced said brother-in-law we would survive without a tree. Ever since our first treeless Christmas, we've always had a tree. Some really beautiful, some more of a Charlie Brown tree. (That would be our Christmas in the Alabama mountains).
You saw our first tree...that was the one in Married Students Housing.

We had Christmas trees on Egret Street...
Our first Christmas tree in North Cackalacky...
The tree has been placed in the living room...
and in the family room...

This year, we have the children's tree decorated, thanks to my grandkids, beautifully in the foyer. We do not have the 'family' Christmas tree. We have rooms loaded with furniture like a storage facility. Which we are. Temporarily.
If this weekend, all the Christmas tree gods smile in our favor, the tree will be purchased and decorated SOMEWHERE, in my house.
Just need to empty a few rooms of furniture first!

Please pray to the Christmas tree gods for me and just as an extra precaution...keep your fingers crossed!

Someone Must Have Received A New Camera For Christmas This Year

One camera...Christmas 1972
Two photos...just about same results!
I'm not sure what the photographer was 'shooting' for, seems partial was the intent!
