Uncle Jack...Birthday of a Southern Gentleman

My sister Lee married the most lovable and loving fella! Jack is the relative that everyone hopes will be at the party. Jack is the relative everyone hopes sits down beside them for a long chat. He knows more about everything and is funny and engaging. I remember when Lee was dating this handsome man how 'smitten' she was with him. When I met him it was easy to see why.

Jack is an avid and excellent golfer. He manages to blow away what ever buddies are in his group and to keep them happy and smiling and feeling good about themselves in spite of their losing scores. Now that's not easy to do. My husband was very impressed the first time he 'played a round' with Jack. He said that man should be on the pro circuit. I know he would have been a huge success, but Jack likes to be close to his family and friends. For now Jack's had to put his clubs in the closet...
Lately Jack has been going through a rough patch. All that golfing might have taken its toll. He had to have an achilles tendon reattached a while back and now it's looking like he may need a knee replacement. It makes me sad my sweet brother-in-law is having to endure these maladies, but if anyone can handle something like this with grace and strength it is Jack. (Jack, I'm praying for you and your caretakers *wink, wink, and big time for the Doctors).

Today is his birthday...and a true Southern Gentleman was born on this day...seventy two years ago. The world has been a much brighter and happier place ever since! Happy Birthday dear Brother-in-law...we all love you and think the world of you.

There is a doctor in Birmingham (Dr Andrews) that is supposed to be one of the best sports injury doctors in the world. He treats a lot of famous athletes.
Not sure if your brother-in-law would want to journey to Bham, but He'd be seeing one of the best in the field.

Hi Sush, it is wonderful to read about a special person like Jack. Please tell him that Odie in Halifax, NC said a big Happy Birthday today.
Along with age comes some speed bumps like the right knee replacement Linda had done on May 31st. Now she can do things with that leg that she couldn't do before. Thanks for the post and the great picture. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.

What a lovely post. I love being reminded that there are some wonderful people in this world. It's okay that we never meet them, it's enough knowing they're here.

Happy birthday to Jack, hope his health problems are soon fixed.

That makes two wonderful Southern Gentlemen who were born on this day then. My dad would have been 89 today. He was a very laid back guy and everybody loved him. Sounds like Jack is much the same. Hope his physical ailments are soon behind him!!

Wearing out as we get older isn't easy on anyone. But Jack sounds like the kind of gentleman who will do it with as much grace as possible. All good wishes to him!

>Rick...thanks for the suggestion, I'll pass it along. I know he has an Ortho he sees but it would be good to have a second opinion.

>Odie...I know my sister will be as devoted of a care giver as you were with Linda. Hopefully the results will all be positive.

>Sarah...the lovely people in the world need to be recognized often...we really do have so many of them yet they often remain unsung heroes! Thanks!
