Don't Call Her Baby Aimee

Happy Birthday to my youngest sister. Whatever you do don't call her the baby! I never knew this until a few years ago, but she hated being 'Baby Aimee'. 'Tis a shame as we all called her that for many years; we didn't know she hated it. Now that I do know it, as you can see I don't refer to her as the baby. At all. Ever. Nada. No how. No way. Nope, not me. But she was a beautiful baby infant...wanna see???
Now our Mother always referred to my youngest sister as Baby Aimee...and went on and on about what a beautiful porcelain doll she was...even when she wasn't so very young...she was still her Baby Aimee...
But then again Mothers can be like that...ignoring your request to not be called the baby when you aren't a baby anymore. You know something? I think Daddy called Aimee that a time or two when she was well past being a baby...more like a lady in waiting...
Why there were times when she was a baby and an adorable one...you didn't have to call her 'Baby Aimee'.  I mean, "Hey YOU" would have worked.
I know Grams would have respected her wishes and not called my youngest sister Baby Aimee...
And even when she was playing dress up with her like she was a real live baby doll, I'm sure if Lee had known she didn't like being called Baby Aimee she wouldn't...even when she was holding the baby...Aimee...
But you can't fault us for thinking she was the baby. For many years she was the last of the line...
But she could always count on that one person in her life that wouldn't ever think of her as Baby Aimee...that was baby brother BILLY...
But just because she was always my sweet younger sister doesn't mean I would take advantage of her and torment Baby Aimee...

No matter how old...
I knew better than to call this sweet, adorable little girl...
Who happens to be my youngest sister by a year or two or three or eight...Baby Aimee...nope
I just call her "Lady in Red"...
Happy Birthday Aimee no matter how old you will always be in my heart of hearts...

What a lovely post, Sush- I'm sure she will love all the references to Baby Aimee! She really does look like your mom. Beautiful family!

And, Happy Birthday to Aimee!

Congratulations, Sush! You've earned a place in the Guinness Record Book for using the word "baby" the most times in a single blog post! (LOL) Happy birthday to your dear sister Aimee! I love your vintage family pictures. A fine looking bunch you are!

I can certainly relate to what you wrote about mothers not wanting to let their children feel grown up. I remember being mortified when my mom spit on her handkerchief and used it to clean my messy mouth in a restaurant. I was 37 at the time!

Have a wonderful Sunday, dear friend Sush!

Happy Birthday to Aimee - what a lovely child she was and how lovely she still is, now - she looks a lot like you, I think.

Baby Aimee should have never admitted how much she hates that name. That pretty much assures that she will always be called Baby Aimee! (At least it would in our family!) Hope she has a happy birthday!

In response to Jerusalem artichokes, I've never seen them in the store, but I've also never looked for them. If they are cheap, go ahead and try them. Good luck!

How lucky you are to have a sister! I always wanted one. I have 3 brothers and they're great, but sometimes you just want girl time, you know? I try to get it in the form of my daughter and daughter in laws when I'm lucky enough to have them close by!

Dear, Sush!
Oh, how lovely these pictures are♡♡♡ Haha, I hated my late bro called me "chibi", maybe shorty in English. I reminisce that now.
Blessing to you and all your family, xoxo love Orchid*

PS> So sorry my belated comment. My small number of students are having midterm test.

Cindy....oh that sounds so much like home! Thanks for stopping in cher! Hugs~

Rick...nothing like a sister's birthday to get the words flowing! Thanks...and hugs~

Lu...Most of the time when I was growing up I thought having sisters was wonderful. There were always those few random days/moments when the life of an only child held great attractions. As an adult I am just grateful we have each other. Thanks for stopping in! Hugs~

Orchid...Yes don't our brothers and sisters always know just what to say to tease us! I know your brother was doing the teasing out of love! Sounds like you are very busy with your students...Blessings to you all...and Hugs~

For those of us who have a "baby sister" we have all learned a thing or two that we did, unknowlingly, that they always hated! :)

Yours was not only pretty mild, but the whole family was in on it, so you can't be blamed. :)

What a nice tribute to your sister.

Hi Sush! Life has been rather busy these past few weeks and, in spite of my very best intentions, I've fallen way behind with my blog reading. I find that once that happens, I battle to get caught up. I am obviously too late, now, to join in the on-line fanfare of well wishing for DEFINITELY NOT BABY, AIMEE'S birthday and I feel sorry about that :( I really have enjoyed reading all about her and seeing so many lovely pictures of her 'through the ages' She most certainly was both a very beautiful baby (yes, when she was an infant!) and young girl. What a gorgeous bride she made when she was all grown up!. I only have one sister, no brothers and she lives in Australia.

I am married to the youngest of eight kids but there's nothing left of their baby! Baby is sort of condescending but it sounds like she has a good sense of humor. Or maybe she will find a way to pay you back for this one!
Just kidding! I enjoyed seeing the pictures of you and your sweet sister. You both are really beautiful!
