So true. My students love to bring me quotes and facts from Wikipedia. lol I believe I have broken them of that habit. People growing up today just don't seem to know that the Internet is rife with lies, misinformation and scams, all knotted together with some truth.

Abe Lincoln was a wise man and a great president. Unfortunately he didn't look good on television.

After writing papers for those wicked English professors, I was trained to use reliable sources and give credit to the writer. Imagine my confusion when I first stepped into the waters of facebook and watched my adolescent nieces and cousins forget to add the sources of their brilliant status updates. Sometimes I would send them messages asking who said that. They would reply, "oh I just found it on so and so's status." The internet is indeed a muddy place!

Abe is so right - but every once in awhile you have to fake it, as long as they sound good.

A number of years ago, I wrote a newspaper column about the economy. I thought it was very funny. I made up hilarious quotations from Alan Greenspan and other important people. No one noticed it or said a word. I was so disappointed.

Love,
