Forever Young

Once upon a time I was old as the 'S' word. No, no...the other 'S' word, sixty. Ugh. I've changed my mind...it's a woman's prerogative don't ya know? I've decided to remain...'Forever Twenty One'. It's really a pretty nice age. You can legally consume any beverage of your choosing. Voting was legalized for eighteen year olds way back when I was first close to that age. Movies of all ratings are allowed for my viewing.  It was pointed out to me if  I choose to remain 'Forever Twenty One' I won't be allowed to rent a car. Twenty five is the age for renting cars it seems. Isn't that what my date of the last forty one years is supposed to do? This is us when I wasn't quite yet 'Forever Twenty One' we were newlyweds, I turned that delightful and forever age about five months after this picture was taken!

Last Sunday I celebrated my 'Forever Twenty One' birthday. Again. Adult children and my darling grandchildren joined us at a neighborhood Italian restaurant. This restaurant has a separate party room. We noticed it even had an extra table we will be able to use once Daniel Son and our lovely Daughter-in-Love Laura have the twins! Daniel and Laura were the only missing members of the family, but she is busy incubating those precious babies and sooooo very close to their 'birthday', they remained home in Virginia. That's gonna be some great news!

We did have your other favorites present though...

After dinner we headed back to the old family homestead for cake and ice cream and presents. There may have been some piano playing and block building going on. Baby dolls and cars and puzzles may have taken over the floor. But you didn't hear that from me!

The piano has been discovered by Kate...
...it's like a magnet to the girls...
And then there were three!
A little rearranging...
Kate and Grace deciding if they like the new arrangement...
Kate making sure she has a captive audience...
Then some serious tunes were played...
We had a lovely fais do do...that's N'Awlins speak for a party, and soon everyone headed home.
I've decided I really do like being 'Forever Twenty One'! Happy Birthday to Me!

Sush, I love the Forever Twenty One! I think I shall adopt that, too.

Your celebration sounds wonderful. I could just about hear the laughter and lively conversation (and piano playing) as I looked through your pictures.

Celebrate twenty one!

Happy belated birthday, dear Sush! You're only as old as you feel and think and I know that you will remain, as Rod Stewart sang, "Forever Young." I decided long ago I'm never going past the mental age of 16 and that's working out just fine for me. I always love to see sets of pictures that reveal how the kids in your wonderful family have grown. The shots of the girls at the piano are priceless, modern day Norman Rockwell portraits. Have a safe and happy weekend, dear friend Sush!

You're so lucky to have your beautiful family around you, sharing the moment. Doesn't matter what age you call yourself, you're just YOU. Happy birthday.

Hi there Sush! Such a happy, happy and loving post today. Yes, I think all we 'ladies of a certain age' should for ever remain 21. Let's do it! It must be wonderful when your home is filled with all the family, especially the little ones, who are growing away already! They're all such little cuties. I know I've said it so many times, but we have blessings in abundance, don't you think, and they're all healthy :) Glad that you had such a special birthday surrounded by those that you love dearly. I love Italian food, so I would have fitted in quite nicely at the end of the table. I would have been so good, you wouldn't have known that I was there!!! Hugs my friend.

Happy birthday Sush! I'll be turning 60 later this year myself. Shhhh...maybe no one will notice. I have to say it's an odd feeling. I keep looking around for my mother but then I realize she's 82, and I guess I'd rather be 60 than 82.

Susie, Thanks to Anne, I just found your blog. Anne told me you were a good writer and she was absolutely correct. I've enjoyed spying on your beautiful family via your blog. Glenn and I think of you often. In fact this Christmas, I copied your idea of the box train for my grandchildren's Christmas party. Glenn asked me what I was doing and I told him "important foolishness." Keep writing...you have a gift. Dovie

~Pam, you know I'm so used to seeing them in either UNC or NCSU gear I forget to notice. I don't know if I've ever mentioned to you but the four boys split the difference. Two went to UNC and two went to NCSU. Quite the rivalry sometimes. Our daughter was going to be the tie breaker but headed to UNC-G as it was the only school with the degree she wanted.
Summer's coming...!
